Migration happens in two major steps. First, the site is transferred and installed in our location. Second, your domain records are updated to point visitors to the new location.
Transfer and Install
- Ask your provider for a copy of your site. The copy shall include: a ZIP file of all your WordPress files and a database backup in .sql format.
- Grant us access to the files. Usually, people share a Dropbox folder or another cloud folder (such as Google Drive, OneDrive). We do not accept files by email because the files are simply too large.
- Purchase our full-service support and hosting. Select "Migrate my existing WordPress site" and provide your site's domain name.
- We create a ticket on your behalf at our help desk.
-
We install the site on our servers. If there are issues, we inform you.
Point Your Domain at Our Servers
- If your domain is registered through your current hosting provider, you have two choices:
- Cancel your hosting service at your current provider and continue paying for domain renewal only, or;
- Transfer your domain to a domain registrar such as Namecheap.com. If you desire our help, please ask.
- Point your A record to our IP address. If you desire our help, please ask.
- Enjoy your site in the new location. You may want to see the article How do I know my site is on your server?
Optional
-
If email addresses are hosted at your current provider, then you have two options:
- Keep your email service at your current provider, or;
- Migrate your email service to Google Apps for Business
